Pedias nowadays will not recommend to put anything on baby's skin like lotion, oil, baby powder and the likes. But during the past generations, mothers used to put oil on baby before taking bath. They will put oil on the feet, hands, chest, back and head. They believe that putting oil will prevent baby from getting colds.

As much as I want to follow pedia's instruction not to put oil, for sure grandparents will not allow it. 😅 So instead of debating with them, I just looked for a baby oil that will be safe for my baby. Annddd... I chose HUMAN NATURE BABY WONDER OIL which is 99.99% natural. Almost perfect! 👌  It promises to protect and soothes baby skin.

The product claims that Human Nature Baby Wonder Oil is made from premium grade sunflower oil and is free from mineral oil and other harmful chemicals. It has NO mineral oil, NO phathalates, NO parabens and other harmful chemicals. Why it is important that a product should not be made of mineral oil, phathalates and parabens? Let me define each chemical:

Parabens
According to Wikipedia, Parabens are a class of widely used preservatives in cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. Chemically, they are a series of parahydroxybenzoates or esters of parahydroxybenzoic acid (also known as 4-hydroxybenzoic acid). Parabens are effective preservatives in many types of formulas. The concerns about endocrine disruptors have led consumers and companies to search for paraben-free alternatives.

Mineral Oil
A mineral oil or paraffin oil is any of various colorless, odorless, light mixtures of higher alkanes from a mineral source, particularly a distillate of petroleum. Most often, mineral oil is a liquid by-product of refining crude oil to make gasoline and other petroleum products. This type of mineral oil is a transparent, colorless oil composed mainly of alkanes and cycloalkanes, related to petroleum jelly. It has a density of around 0.8 g/cm3. Mineral oil is a common ingredient in baby lotions, cold creams, ointments and cosmetics. One of the common concerns regarding the use of mineral oil is its presence on several lists of comedogenic substances. The World Health Organization classifies untreated or mildly treated mineral oils as Group 1 carcinogens to humans; highly refined oils are classified as Group 3, meaning they are not suspected to be carcinogenic but available information is not sufficient to classify them as harmless. Phathalates
Phthalates or phthalate esters, are esters of phthalic acid and are mainly used as plasticizers (substances added to plastics to increase their flexibility, transparency, durability, and longevity). Much of the current research on effects of phthalate exposure has been focused on children and men's health. However, women may be at higher risk for potential adverse health effects of phthalates due to increased cosmetic use. Diethyl phthalate and dibutyl phthalate are especially ubiquitous in cosmetics and personal care products in some countries. (Source: Wikipedia)

As a first time Mom with zero knowledge on taking care of an infant, I did a lot of research. I researched on internet, read articles and asked other moms in the office about this and that. I know of course that you can only learn by experience butttt as they say 'iba na ang may alam'. 😉

One of the first thing that I researched was the bath soap I will be giving my infant. Baby's skin so delicate that I only wanted to give her the best soap I could find. Way back 2014, when my first niece was born, I could still remember that we had to send her to dermatologist because her skin got so dry due to her baby soap and I didn't want that to happen to my firstborn.

My first criteria for baby bath soap is of course NO HARMFUL CHEMICALS and ZERO FRAGRANCE. I also wanted a soap that clearly states that an INFANT could use it. (As I said above, I am a first time Mom and I got confused easily, Haha) When a bath soap states that a BABY could use it, what age of the baby? toddler? 6 months above? is baby and infant the same? SORRY! I told you, haha. I make things more complicated 😝

But thanks Internet, I finally found the soap my baby is using from her 1st day on outside world up to now and that is SACRED baby bath soap. What I like about this soap is it clearly, directly and specifically states that it is a NEWBORN cleanser made with love for the FIRST SIX MONTHS. Whew! Too good for a complicated Mom like me, Haha 👌

They also claim on their website that it is the world's first newborn cleanser made specially for the first six months.

What is Sacred?
Sacred is the world’s first newborn cleanser made specially for the first six months.

Why did we create Sacred?
The first six months are the most crucial phase for our little ones. Since their skin is still so new and just beginning to develop, bathing them requires extreme simplicity. However, washes and cleansers that are marketed for infants and toddlers still contain ingredients that are not simple enough for the first six months. This is why we created Sacred.

What makes Sacred so simple?
From all the products we’ve tested and studied, Sacred is the only cleanser that contains absolutely ZERO scents and fragrances, ZERO irritating acids, and of course, ZERO creepy chemicals such as methylisothiazolinone, phenoxyethanol, and ALL types of parabens. We promise.

Sacred simple ingredients are all plant-derived which are all natural. Thats a big check ✔.

When put in the skin, this is how the soap looks like. It is not sticky, slightly watery and not too bubbly. No smell at all. I consumed three bottles already and my baby is now only 5 months and 2 weeks.

For almost six months used of Sacred soap on my baby, I can say that no rashes or dryness or any skin problems happened on her skin. Here are my baby's pic as she used Sacred soap. No filter used on the pics below.

I bought Sacred soap at Mothercare for 399 Php at 250 ml. It is also available online at indigobabyshop.com.
